• Paradigms of Modernity: Deciphering Secularism

    As a result of the ‘reign of modernity’ the world is currently experiencing, there are phenomena from which there is no escape, especially in the West. Among them is secularism—an outlook that is now permeating all levels of society. While mostly associated and originally purposed as a political order, secularism can now “be broadened to a similar position seeking to remove or to minimize the role of religion in any public sphere”.
    In continuing with our obligation to ‘know our time’, we hope to introduce the historical trajectory of secularism, what it means to our spirituality, and what implications it may have on our community.
